Description
The Amezaga Palace, built during the first half of the 18th century by Juan Bautista de Urizar y Amezaga, secretary of the Council of Castile and secretary general of the Supreme Inquisition, is a building steeped in history, dating back to its construction.
It comprises 2,100 square meters of usable space distributed across four floors: ground floor, first floor, second floor, and attic (covered with a hipped roof). All floors are divided into different rooms, except for the attic, which is open-plan.
This unique building is singular for its use of two architectural styles within the same structure:
The east façade is in a sober, late Baroque style, reminiscent of traditional Basque rural architecture, with the arch slightly offset to the left.
The south façade is Neoclassical, featuring interior balconies in the style of Madrid’s traditional courtyard houses.
Its main feature is the combination of two distinct structures. On one side, it boasts a prominent masonry facade, while on the other, the building presents a much more slender facade composed of five ashlar pillars with spectacular galleries.
It includes 10,942 m² of land adjacent to the palace.
It is in very good condition considering its age.
A special and almost unique building in Bizkaia, steeped in history and culture.
Suitable for various uses, including conversion into apartments, a hospitality business, a residence, a rural guesthouse, etc.
